Cincinnati Patio Homes Have Many Names

Cincinnati patio home communities

If you're searching Cincinnati patio homes for sale you might just get a bit confused.

You're looking for a patio home. It's a detached home (usually one level) that comes with lawncare as part of the HOA fee.  Seems straightforward enough doesn't it?  But as you'll find, there's not ONE term used to describe that style of home, but a variety of names.  While the most common term will be "patio home", you'll find builders and communities may call them something else.  And what gets stranger?  When a builder uses the term "lifestyle ranch" for just a regular ranch home (no lawncare) that an entirely different builder uses interchangeably with "patio home".

And for the most part, the different terms cover the same exact same style of home, they just use a term different than "patio home".  A couple of local builders build a style of patio home that they term courtyard homes.  Their primary feature that earns them their name is the integtration of a courtyard into the side of the home.  The homes are close together, but designed so the courtyard is still a private area for the owner.

Other terms you may see used in lieu of patio home in the Cincinnati area?

  • ranch condo (although these may be detached or attached, so not always equivalent to patio homes)
  • garden home
  • villa home
  • club home
  • townhome (maybe ranch with a basement, or may be three stories total, and is almost always attached)
  • landominium (another variation, but in this case the HOA owns the outside of the building and the owner has from the wall studs in)

No matter the term used, you can expect a low maintenace lifestyle.
